Energy Forever is a local community owned renewable energy project, initiated by the Port Macquarie Hastings Sustainability Network. The project aims to install a 70 - 100kW solar power (photovoltaic) systems within our community that will produce clean renewable energy for large energy consumers in our community. It will provide a perpetual source of funding for community driven sustainability projects. The project will be funded through either philanthropic donations, a traditional investor model, or a combination of both.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest to host the project infrastructure from organisations in the Port Macquarie - Hastings area which have a large daytime power consumption and large roof areas.
Benefits to the site may include:
- no upfront cost & no debt
- lower electricity costs & price certainty
- clean, community owned power supply
- social capital and marketing benefits for your business.
Examples of other community owned renewable energy projects include Farming the Sunin Lismore, the Hepburn Community Wind Farm and Corena in Bega.
Does your organisation own infrastructure which meets the following criteria?
❏ Electricity usage over 300 kWh per day and preferably more than 500 kWh daytime load, typically a hospitality, medical, retail, educational or industrial load.
❏ More than 200 square metres of viable roof or ground space which receives good sunlight (minimal shading between 9am and 4pm)
If you think your site may be suitable and you would like to undergo a free technical assessment, review similar projects or discuss the Energy Forever project in more detail, please get in touch with our project team.
